It has a normal surface area of 2.2 square miles. It is owned by Monmouth, Town Of. Lake Annabessacook, one of the deep water lakes of the Winthrop Lakes Region. In the summer, enjoy swimming, boating, and fishing at the lake. Annabessacook Lake provides excellent environmental conditions for warm water sportfish. The large percentage of shallow water habitat is ideal for all life stages of bass. The lake has become one the most popular largemouth bass fishing spots in Central Maine. Anglers can experience very fast fishing for average-size bass along with the real possibility of catching a true trophy. Anglers may catch an occasional brown trout or brook trout which are known to drop down from Maranacook Lake. Winter anglers have recently reported catching northern pike, a result of an illegal stocking. Should pike become established, the tremendous bass fishery could be compromised. Access is via an unimproved launch located along the Waugan Road. Since this site offers no parking, boaters must use caution when parking along the shoulder of the road.
