Cider Mill Pond is a small, shallow impoundment
fOl'med by the construction of a dam on Maple Swamp
Brook. Late summer water quality is suitable for
resident warm water fisheries. However, the
impoundment does not thermally stratify in the summer
to provide an area of cold water suitable for trout. . The
presence of competing and predatory warm water fish
further limit opportunities to intensively manage for
trout.
An abundance of small chain pickerel provide limited fishing opportunity. The pond is stocked annually with
catchable-size brook trout to provide a short duration spring fishery.
Anglers traditionally fish the lower end of the pond near
the dam. Anglers are afforded walk-in access off the Cider
Mill Pond Road, which lies adjacent to the lower
impoundment shoreline.
