Murdock Lake Description

Murdock Lake is a man-made impoundment formed by a dam across what was previously known as Hatfield Bog. Largemouth bass were illegally introduced in the 1980's and have overpopulated the lake. As a result, the Maine Department of Fisheries and wildlife has removed all regulations pertaining to largemouth bass. This lake also supports an abundant population of hornpout and pickerel, but
the hornpout population is expected to decline due to predation from largemouth bass.
Anglers can launch small boats or canoes on the west shore of the pond along the Hatfield Road.
