Barnard Pond is located south of Tea Mountain in the northwest corner of Eustis. Its main inlet, which flows southeast from Little Barnard Pond, is wide and marshy near the pond. The pond’s outlet flows southeast into Tim Brook and eventually into the North Branch of the Dead River. Its shoreline is lightly developed.
Water quality and habitat for coldwater gamefish are good in both basins of Barnard Pond. However, water below twenty feet is deficient in dissolved oxygen during the summer months. Brook trout growth is good with minimal competition from other fish species. Spawning success is limited because of the silty inlets so annual stockings are necessary to provide a fishery.
Barnard Pond is accessible with four-wheel drive vehicles via woods roads off the Tim Pond Road. The pond is open to fishing with no live fish as bait in the summer and closed to fishing in the winter. See the lawbook for additional regulations.
