Duck Pond is a small, shallow, weedy pond with very clear water, and it provides some pond fishing in an area where few other ponds exist. This pond is homothermous, and its summer water temperatures are not suitable for salmonids. However, it does have good water quality and habitat for many of our warmwater fish species.
In the past, neighborhood anglers would mainly fish for pickerel or hornpout. In 1989, the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife introduced largemouth bass, and now there is a self-sustaining population. This water is gaining popularity as a small, out-of-the-way pond for bass fishing.
A traditional, private canoe or car-top boat access is located near the outlet. Anglers should inquire about access from one of the shoreline property owners.
