Principal fisheries: Largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, white perch, chain pickerel and black crappie Estes Lake, located west of Sanford, is an impoundment formed on the Mousam River by the "New Dam". Excellent angling opportunities now exist for bass, crappies, perch and pickerel. An abundance of small minnows and perch provide a good forage base for the crappies, bass and pickerel. Any species of fish stocked upstream in the Mousam River or in Mousam Lake is apt to drop down into this lake. Access to Estes Lake is availableonly by permissive trespass, since there is not a public access site.
