With only one house and one camp located on the shores of Killick Pond most of the shoreline remains unaltered. This shallow picturesque pond supports an abundance of aquatic and emergent wetland habitats. This water offers a truly unique
"wilderness" fishing experience in one of Maine's most densely populated counties.
Dense beds of aquatic vegetation provide abundant spawning and nursery habitat for existing warmwater fisheries. A Plentiful supply of forage fish further enhance principle fisheries. Although the Pond is managed for warmwater fisheries, the inlet
and outlet support populations of wild brook trout.
Significant competition from warm water fish and unsuitable summer water temperatures significantly limit opportunities to manage for coldwater fisheries. As a result Killick Pond is best
managed for existing warmwater fisheries.
Traditional carry-in boat access is located on private property. The launch site is located down a maze of unmaintained gravel roads, along the westerly shore. Public access accommodations are
tentative and could be terminated in the future.
There is a need to secure long-term public access on this pond.
