Historically, Mixer Pond was stocked with fall fingerling brook trout but these stockings did not provide adequate returns to the angler. Marginal water quality and heavy competition with other fishes was the downfall of these small trout. Once large spring yearling trout were stocked returns to angler improved as did fish growth. Currently the pond is managed under very conservative regulations to optimize this fishery.
Public access to Mixer Pond is via a woods road over private land. The land owner permits vehicle traffic a short way up this road then a short foot path leads to the pond.
