Since Province Lake is uniformly shallow over its entire area, it is difficult to pinpoint any particular spot to fish. The lake is well known for its shallow nature and sandy bottom. It is also known to contain some very large Chain Pickerel and Yellow Perch. Although only a very small portion of this lake is located in Maine, it is still governed by the interstate rules and regulations, available wherever fishing licenses are sold. Access to Provonce Lake is available along the southeastern shore that abuts Rt. 153. There is a boat launch located here, but launching may be difficult because the lake is so shallow and sandy. Average ice-out date is May 1st.

Province Lake is a 967-acre (3.9 km2)[1] water body located on the border between New Hampshire and Maine in the United States. Approximately 950 acres (3.8 km2) of the lake lie in the towns of Effingham and Wakefield, New Hampshire, with the remainder in Parsonsfield, Maine. Its outlet is the South River, flowing north to the Ossipee River, a tributary of the Saco River.
