Wesserunsett Lake is located near East Madison village. There are many marshy inlets entering in from all around the lake. The outlet flows east into the West Branch of Wesserunsett Stream. Much of the shoreline is developed. The water temperature reaches critical levels for coldwater gamefish in the summer months. Despite the abundance of warmwater species competing for food and space, annual stockings of brown trout provide a coldwater fishery in Wesserunsett Lake. The fishery for warmwater gamefish also attract anglers to the lake. Wesserunsett Lake is accessible via a public boat launch in East Madison. The lake is open to fishing under general law in both the summer and winter seasons. It is also open for all fish except trout and bass from October 1 to November 13t. Wesserunsett Lake provides ample recreation for residents and visitors alike. From boating and swimming to fishing (both ice and open water), the lake continues to be a attraction for outdoor recreation.
