Principal fisheries: Brown trout, smallmouth bass, white
perch, .chain pickerel
Long Pond is a shallow body of water that drains
directly to the Androscoggin River. Long Pond provides
very good habitat for warmwater sportfish species such as
smallmouth bass and white perch.
Coldwater sportfish stocking resumed when a town
owned boat launch facility was constructed in 2003. Annual
stockings of brown trout are necessary to maintain a good
fishery since there is limited spawning and nursery habitat
available in the pond or tributaries.
Brook trout have also recently been stocked. Brook trout
are not expected to survive through the hot summer
months, but due to the recent expansion of the
Department's fish hatcheries, an experimental program
was initiated. If returns of brook trout to anglers is
acceptable the program will be continued.
The State owned improved boat launch facility is
located along the west shore off State Route 4 in Livermore
Falls.
