Principal fisheries: Chain pickerel
Deane Pond is a small, shallow, weedy pond that is relatively remote This pond thermally stratifies during the summer and an oxygen deficiency develops below seven feet. There is no suitable water for coldwater fisheries management. A self-sustaining fishery exists for chain pickerel and local anglers occasionally fish the pond. In addition, a few anglers report that bullhead are in the pond, but the Maine Dept. of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife did not confirm their presence during the survey.
A private access road exists off Quaker Ridge Road, but permission is required. Also, a couple of access trails lead into the pond’s eastern and western shorelines.
