This water is an old impoundment on
the Little Ossipee River in the town of
North Shapleigh. The deep water is in
front of the dam and along the old stream
bed, which is somewhat apparent by
observing the pond vegetation.
Largemouth bass were first
introduced here in 1960. They are now
very well established and are providing a
good fishery. Following reports by area
fishermen, black crappie were discovered
to be present in 1978. The presence of
this fish is the result of a downstream
migration from headwater areas, where
they had been illegally introduced. The black crappie is firmly established now and
is providing a fishery that some anglers are
utilizing.
